Garvin Construction

Garvin has been servicing the construction industry throughout New England since 1949. Across three generations of family ownership, the company has grown to become the largest provider of waterproofing and restoration products in the region. Influenced by the timeless logotypes of American tool-makers like DeWalt, Milwaukee and Craftsman, Garvin’s logo was designed to represent the company's heritage, strength and reliability. The owners wanted a modern logo that symbolized cutting-edge technology in order to appeal to younger demographic. Based on this objective, I set out to sketch a mark that said even though the business may be older, they have used their knowledge and expertise to adapt, using modern techniques to produce cutting edge results. It's for this reason that the main logotype looks as sharp as it does, as if it were laser cut or CNC'd from a solid piece of metal. The color leans into the purple spectrum which is extremely different in their industry. Purple provides the calm stability of blue with the power/ambition of red and represents wisdom, dignity and devotion.
